Tai Chi… yea I know it sounds like a delicious tea but trust me Tai chi is a martial art that is just as beneficial for the spirit as it as for self defense.
What is Tai chi?
Tai chi is a martial art that began in the 1800s. Tai chi first began with five styles which are named after their founders. The most popular styles are; Cheng, Wu, and Yang.
Tai chi is a style of choreographed movements called forms. These choreographed movements can last anywhere from a few minutes to hours.
Today tai chi is not just a martial art, but has become modernized into a form of exercise. Tai chi is not about forceful movements but more of a smooth motion.
Tai chi is a low pact exercise that does not put strenuous force on the joints or muscles. Tai chi is a great option for those with joint pain that usually prevents them from exercising.
How is Tai Chi good for the Spirit?
Tai chi relaxes and regulates the central nervous system. This causes the body to release any built up physical, mental, or spiritual stress.
Tai chi helps the body release ‘chi’. Chi is the energy that makes the mind body and spirit feel alive and well. Think of Chi as energy for your spirit. Tai Chi helps you create more positive chi which in turn helps energize your spirit.
Tai chi allows the mind to relax and just focus on the movement of the body. When we stress as humans we tend to speed up everything. We speed up our thoughts and our heart. Tai chi tells everything in your body to slow down. Tai chi produces a calm over everything. When we are calm our spirit is calm. When your spirit is calm you are the best version of yourself.
