Peyronie Disease is a fancy medical name for a curved penis.
This is not the normal curve that most of us men have but it is an extreme curve that causes pain when an erection is obtained during sexual acts.
Curvature of a penis can occur following an injury to the penis.
A penile injury can occur following a motor vehicle crash or during sexual intercourse.
When the curvature occurs from something other than an injury or sexual act it is termed Peyronie’s Disease.
What happens during Peyronie’s Disease?
Fibrous tissue forms along the shaft which causes a curve in the penis.
There is uncertainty into why this fibrous tissue forms. Some medical researchers believe that it occurs during repetitive trauma from sexual intercourse.
Men who have Peyronie’s Disease have a hard time obtaining and maintaining an erection.
Most men who develop Peyronie’s is between the ages of 45-60.
Most men who develop Peyronie’s Disease have a tendency to have scar tissue form in other parts of the body (palms of the hands).
