Semaglutide Gameplan

Congrats on Taking the First Step towards a Healthier You!!!

I’m going to be honest this is only the first step. It”s going to take progressive work and commitment to reach your ultimate goal, but I KNOW you can do it.

Let’s start off by discussing Semaglutide.

What is Semaglutide and How does it work?

When we eat food our small intestines secrete a hormone called GLP-1, this hormone acts on 3 different areas of the body, pancreas, stomach, and brain. GLP-1 in our body naturally causes the pancreas to secrete more insulin and decrease glucagon (diabetic function of medication). GLP-1 causes the stomach to delay gastric emptying (“food stays in stomach longer”). GLP-1 causes the brain to decrease the appetite.

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 (glucagon like peptide-1 analogue) it belongs to a group of medications called incretin mimics. This means Semaglutide mimics the effects of GLP-1. It acts on the pancreas, stomach, and brain in the same way as natural GLP-1.

Side Effects of Semaglutide:

Semaglutide’s effects also can cause the side effects, if not closely monitored.

Gastrointestinal Side Effects: Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Constipation, and Heartburn. We prevent this side effect by doing a slow titration (slow change of medication). We also include B12 injections as part of the program.

There are other side effects see handout delivered with medication
