Healthy Truth: You Can’t Lose Fat in just one Area

People you cannot I repeat you cannot lose fat in a specific area of the body. You have been lied to if someone “trainer” told you they can help you lose fat in one specific area of the body.

I’m sorry that is not how it works. You cannot control where you lose from.

I will give you an analogy to think of when it comes to losing weight:

Fill up a bucket of water. Now I want you to try and remove water out of a corner of the bucket.

You may decrease the overall water in the bucket, but you will not create a dent in that one specific corner.

You cannot lose weight in a specific area of the body naturally. You can do liposuction and have a doctor suck the fat out of an area of the body, but were talking about all natural processes here.

Why can’t I lose weight in one specific area?

You can’t lose weight in one specific area of the body because fat loss doesn’t work like that. When we decide to lose weight we typically take in less calories. When you take in less calories your body needs fuel.

Your body is going to search for fuel (glucose). Once it metabolizes all of the glucose it can find, your body is going to search for fat. Fat is a high energy source so it will metabolize the fat from all over your body.

The body is not picky on where the fat comes from, It just knows it needs fuel.

Your body is going to pull fuel from fat all over your body.

How do you lose weight in one area of the body?

Trick Question: You Can’t.

You have to lose weight in general. There is no magic short cut. You have to decrease your overall weight.

This means decreasing the calories that you take in daily. Remember weight loss equals less calories in, more calories out (exercising/activity)

Remember you have to lose weight in a smart way. If you crash diet, you may be at risk of your body metabolizing through all of its fuel sources too fast. When the body metabolizes it fuel sources too fast it starts to break down lean mass.

Well if I just lift weights I can decrease the amount of fat I have.

Wrong again.

Is lifting weights great?

Yes of course.

But…you can do 1000 weighted crunches a day. It will not help if you do not decrease your weight and eat healthy.

When you lift weights of any kind you increase the size of the muscle. It does not make the fat cells go way. This is why you see guys who lift weights but still have a gut.

Remember guys the “Healthy Truth” is you can not “Spot Reduce” Fat.

You cannot lose fat in one specific area, so do not be fooled by people telling you that it can happen..
